Description

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the only complete branch line in the UK is well re-known for holding their annual Winter Steam Gala. The event is an important event on many enthusiasts calendars for holding a varied range of trains running along the picturesque five mile branch line.

The annual 2013 Winter Steam Gala date was moved into March allowing a collection of engines to run up and down the steep gradients between Keighley and Oxenhope. Visiting the railway for the event was BR 2MT No.78019 from the Great Central Railway. BR 2MT No.78019 was built in 1954 at Darlington Works and spent most of her life working local and banking trains. She was returned to steam at the Great Central Railway and is coming into her final year of traffic before withdrawal for overhaul.

Gracing its presence along the Worth Valley again was the unique Dub Dee No.90733 after a two year rest whilst repairs to the axle boxes took place. The engine featured at the event during running in trials.

Featuring at its final steam gala before withdrawal was a Worth Valley favourite, BR 4MT No.80002 which is due to bow out of service in May after many years of hauling services up the steep Worth Valley.

Footage is included on the DVD from throughout the event and features all the engines that featured at the event. Trackside footage is also included, an aspect not available to the general public. A wide collection of freight, vintage, express and passenger services are also featured throughout the DVD.
