In stock – more than 20 available

Description

We’re delving into our archives to showcase the best of steam on the mainline and at heritage railways from the past 17 years, focusing on three of the remaining LMS Jubilee Class steam locomotives – no heavily assisting diesels, no random blue-and-grey stock – just pure steam action.

LMS Jubilee Class
The LMS Jubilee Class is a type of steam locomotive designed for mainline passenger work. A total of 191 locomotives were built between 1934 and 1936, with only four of the original engines surviving into preservation. Sit back and enjoy the sights and sounds of the ‘Jubilee roar’ as three of the remaining four locomotives work hard on the mainline and at heritage railways across the UK.

This product features the following locomotives, seen both at heritage railways and hauling mainline charters across the UK:
– LMS 6P No.45596 ‘Bahamas’
– LMS 6P No.45690 ‘Leander’
– LMS 6P No.45699 ‘Galatea’

LMS No.45596 ‘Bahamas’
Now owned by the Bahamas Locomotive Society and based at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the locomotive has been seen hauling mainline charters since its return to mainline operation in 2019, as well as working at various heritage railways, including the North Yorkshire Moors Railway and the Severn Valley Railway.

LMS No.45690 ‘Leander’
Based at Carnforth, ‘Leander’ is a regular performer in the north-west, including routes over Shap and on the Settle & Carlisle Railway. Owned by the Beet family, the locomotive has been seen hauling mainline charters in LMS crimson lake livery and, following overhaul, in BR lined black livery. ‘Leander’ is also featured at the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the Mid Hants Railway, and the East Lancashire Railway.

LMS No.45699 ‘Galatea’
Returning to steam in 2013, LMS No. 45699 ‘Galatea’ is owned and operated by West Coast Railways and based at Carnforth. A regular performer in the north-west, ‘Galatea’ initially appeared in 2013 hauling services in a fictitious crimson livery, before being repainted into BR Brunswick Green in 2019. ‘Galatea’ is seen at various locations on the mainline and at the Severn Valley Railway.
