Description

Our double disc DVD set from 2011 is yet another epic complication of footage from around the UK mainline. The double disc collection includes footage from several mainline charter services from up and down the country.

2011 has seen many unusual charter services run including the first Great Western Castle to take on Copy Pit near Blackburn. The tour that ran in April saw the Castle run from Tyseley through Yorkshire and across to Lancashire including a tremendous attack of Copy Pit.

After extensive boiler repairs LNER A1 No.60163 ‘Tornado’ appeared for the first time on the UK Rail Network in May carrying a BR Brunswick Green livery. Footage is included from the engines test runs in May, plus various other mainline charter work including the engines first appearance on the East Coast Mainline with the BR Brunswick Green livery.

After a recent spell at the NRM Shildon, LNER A4 No.4468 ‘Mallard’ was moved back to York in July hauled by GWR Hall No.5972 ‘Olton Hall’. The National Railway Museum also held several shuttle services between their two sites at York and Shildon over two weekends in September. The tours were highly popular and featured a variety of traction including GWR Hall No.5972, LMS 8P No.6201 and LMS 5MT No.45305.

Besides all the unique highlights of 2011, the annual intensive summer steam haulage ran. Many of the charters are included on the double disc DVD, these include ‘The Scarborough Spa Express’, ‘The Jacobite’, ‘The Merseyside Moorlander’, ‘The Fellsman’, ‘The Cumbrian Mountain Express’, ‘The Waverley’, ‘The Cathedrals Express’ and many others too.
