Product description:

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the only complete branch line in the UK has held many successful events and hauled thousands of passengers along the picturesque five mile branch line throughout 2011.

This double disc review of 2011 gives a round up of the action from throughout the year, the railway held many events including their famous Winter and Autumn Steam Gala events.

Winter Steam Gala, 11th - 13th February:

February saw the railway hold their annual steam gala which featured a high presence of LMS 'Black 5's'. Visiting the railway was LMS 5MT No.44871, famous for its role in the final steam hauled service under BR and LMS 5MT No.44767 'George Stephenson' famous for its unique valve gear. The event featured a wide collection of passenger, vintage and freight services. Also in service at the event were 90733, 80002, 47279, 41241, 957 and 1704.

LMS 3F No.47279 & 4F No.43924:

2011 saw the boiler certificate of LMS 3F No.47279 expire, a popular engine on the Worth Valley. Returning to steam for the first time in 24 years was LMS 4F No.43924, ready to replace the 'Jinty'. The engines did manage to run together providing the sight of two Fowler engines together, an enjoyable sight for any LMS fan! To celebrate the return of the 4F both the 4F and 3F ran parallel up Keighley bank.

LMS 5MT No.45212, another engine famous for its role in the end of steam returned to the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway after nine years on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The engine ran on several occasions before the boiler certificate expired during October 2011 and was withdrawn for overhaul. To celebrate the 43rd Anniversary of the 'End Of Steam' the engine was able to run trains up and down the Worth Valley branch.

October 2011 saw GWR 28XX No.2807 visit the railway for the first time, the engine which is normally based on the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Railway visited the railway for the month, giving volunteers and passengers an extended opportunity to ride behind the locomotive at the Autumn Steam Gala and annual Beer and Music Festival.
