Product description:

The London and North Eastern Railway (LNER) was the second largest of the "Big Four" railway companies created by the Railways Act 1921 in Britain. It existed from 1 January 1923 until nationalisation on 1 January 1948, when it was divided into the new British Railways' Eastern Region, North Eastern Region and partially the Scottish Region.

The LNER was famous for its prestigious high speed trains, but gained a lot of its income from the coal fields of North East England. Routes varied from the flat agricultural land of East Anglia, to the severe curves and gradients of Scotland and the Pennines. The route mileage was 6,590 miles and the LNER owned 7,700 locomotives, 20,000 coaching vehicles and 29,700 freight vehicles.

The LNER used a number of liveries on its trains. Most common were lined apple green on its passenger locomotives and unlined black on freight locomotives, both with gold lettering. Passenger carriages were generally varnished teak (wood) finish; the few metal-panelled coaches were painted to represent teak. Some special trains and A4 Pacific locomotives were painted differently, including silver-grey and garter blue.

This DVD features a whole collection of LNER Engines hauling passenger and freight services at preserved railways and on the mainline between 2009 and 2013.

Some of the steam engines featured on the DVD include:
- LNER A1 No.60163 'Tornado'
- LNER A4 No.60007 'Sir Nigel Gresley'
- LNER A4 No.60009 'Union Of South Africa'
- LNER A4 No.60019 'Bittern' (Also as No.4494)
- LNER B1 No.61264
