Product description:

The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, the only complete branch line in the UK has held many successful events and hauled thousands of passengers along the picturesque five mile branch line throughout 2014.

This review of 2014 gives a round up of the action from throughout the year, the railway held many events including their famous Winter and Autumn Steam Gala events featuring visiting engines from around the UK.

Winter Steam Gala, 7th - 9th March:

The Winter Steam Gala was held during March 2014, visiting for the event was sole surviving LNER K4 No.61994 'The Great Marquess', which headlined alongside freshly overhauled USATC S160 No.5820, running in BR Black for the first time.

Built in 1938, 'The Great Marquess' is the only surviving LNER K4 class, normally found travelling the country on the mainline, No.61994 visited the Winter Steam Gala hauling services across the three day event. An early morning photo charter is also included with LNER K4 No.61994 hauling a typical branchline freight service.

Having returned to service in January 2014, USATC S160 No.5820 carried a BR black livery for the first few months in service, the Winter Steam Gala saw its final running in this livery before returning to the paint shop at Haworth.

Autumn Steam Gala, 10th - 12th October:

The Autumn Gala featured the long awaited return of 'The Volcano', SR West Country No.34092 'City Of Wells' after an absence of over 20 years at the Worth Valley, the event also featured long term visiting engine LMS 5MT No.45305. The event also included an early morning photo charter using resident locomotive BR 8F No.90733, seen hauling a typical branchline freight service.

After proving popular during the 2013 season at the Worth Valley, LMS 5MT No.45305 continued to haul services throughout 2014. Normally based at the Great Central Railway, the 'Black 5' became a regular candidate for motive power once again on the Worth Valley. Footage is included from throughout the year of this locomotive at various locations at the KWVR.
