Out of stock – due to be released October 2026

Description

The Scottish Highlands are home to some of the most picturesque scenery in the UK. Sit back and enjoy the daily ‘Jacobite’ mainline steam service, filmed between 2023 and 2026 at a variety of locations along the route between Fort William and Mallaig.

‘The Jacobite’, voted one of the greatest rail journeys in the world, takes passengers on an 84-mile round trip through the stunning Scottish Highlands. Travelling from the largest town in the Highlands, Fort William, ‘The Jacobite’ passes the UK’s highest mountain, Ben Nevis; crosses the world-famous Glenfinnan Viaduct; passes the most westerly mainland railway station, Arisaig; travels close to the deepest freshwater loch in Britain, Loch Morar; and crosses the River Morar, Britain’s shortest river, before finally arriving at Mallaig Station.

Running from Easter through to the end of October, ‘The Jacobite’ operates seven days a week. During the summer months, two services operate each day, with morning and afternoon departures, making this the only regular crossing of two steam services passing each other on the national network.

This product features footage filmed between 2023 and 2026, showcasing ‘The Jacobite’ from a wide range of lineside locations along the 42-mile route. From the strenuous climbs to the picturesque scenery, the footage captures the journey between Fort William and Mallaig from a variety of locations. Featuring multiple LMS Black Five locomotives, this product showcases these locomotives working hard over the challenging route through the Scottish Highlands.

A selection of aerial clips filmed using drone technology features throughout the product, offering a fresh perspective of ‘The Jacobite’ and the spectacular scenery of the Scottish Highlands. Sweeping panoramic views, tracking shots and varied camera angles capture the scale of the landscape while showcasing the steam locomotive at work.
