Coming this autumn, step aboard the footplate of GWR Castle No.4079 ‘Pendennis Castle’
Visiting the Churnet Valley Railway throughout May 2024, Great Western ‘Castle’ No.4079 ‘Pendennis Castle’ took on the challenging 1 in 40 gradient to Ipstones, one of the most challenging sustained gradients at any heritage railway in the UK.
On the 11th May we joined the Driver and Fireman and filmed the next episode of ‘From The Footplate’. With multiple cameras mounted onboard the locomotive and action captured from the lineside at various locations along the 10.5 mile route, this autumn you’ll be able to hear the sound of a Great Western Castle tackling the strenuous gradient to Ipstones Loop.
Copies of ‘From The Footplate’ with GWR 4079 ‘Pendennis Castle’ will be released during autumn 2024 (final date to be confirmed). Copies will be available in DVD, Blu-Ray and digital download formats.
