The Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, one of the very few complete branch lines in the UK, held several successful events and hauled thousands of passengers, along the picturesque five mile branch line throughout 2024.
Throughout 2024, a variety of new and returning events took place, including the annual spring steam gala, vintage train services, diesel gala, “The Elf Explorer,” and more.

Spring Steam Gala – March 2024
The annual steam event returned in March 2024, once again extended to run over four days. The 2024 event featured visiting locomotives GWR No. 4079 ‘Pendennis Castle’ and GWR No. 6990 ‘Witherslack Hall’. Footage is included from all four days, showcasing extensive coverage of the visiting locomotives, goods trains, express services, and more.

Visiting locomotives
Multiple visiting locomotives have graced the railway throughout the year. In addition to appearing at events, both GWR No. 4079 ‘Pendennis Castle’ and LMS Black 5 No. 44932 have also been seen hauling regular passenger services.

Autumn Steam Up – October 2024
New for the 2024 calendar, the railway hosted its ‘Autumn Steam Up’ in October, featuring the visiting locomotive LBSC A1X No. 72 ‘Fenchurch’ from the Bluebell Railway. The event showcased a variety of vintage, passenger, and goods services, each hauled by ‘Fenchurch’ and the home fleet of steam locomotives.

Vintage Train Services – Summer 2024
Running across summer weekends, the railways superb collection of vintage passenger stock was once again utilised, hauled by LNWR ‘Coal Tank’ No.1054 and BR 2F No.52044. With a mixture of passenger stock from the Vintage Carriage Trust and the Lancashire & Yorkshire Railway Trust, services are seen at various locations between Keighley and Oxenhope.

Summer Diesel Gala – June 2024
The annual diesel gala returned in June 2024, this year’s event featured Class 14 D9520, Class 37 250, Class 37 075, Hudswell Clarke D23, Class 50 008, Class 50 021 and D1015 ‘Western Champion’. Footage is included from the Sunday of the event.

A wide collection of running days are featured throughout this product including lineside shots, an aspect not usually available to the general public.
